Karen in Lucan ordered this 2-tier cake for her 21st birthday.  She wanted dark pink on the bottom tier, with black stripes, and brighter pink on the top tier with black stars.  And stars and the number “21″ bursting out of the top!  I made the numbers from cardboard and painted them with edible glitter glue, so they’d catch the light in photos.  Each of the stars was cut out from sugarpaste and attached to wire, then sprayed with edible lustre spray, rather than just having a flat finish.  She loved it – Happy Birthday Karen!!

The cake itself was a 6-inch chocolate fudge cake on top of a 9-inch chocolate fudge cake, filled with chocolate buttercream, and covered with chocolate ganache and sugarpaste.
