This was the second cake ordered by Aoife  – this time for her uncle’s 50th Jubilee.  He is a priest, based in South Africa, so she wanted me to depict that on the cake.  It was important to have a little map of South Africa, with Durban marked on it, as that is where he is living.  She also wanted an elephant and lion, and a vuvuzela on the cake.  Apparently he was delighted!

The cake itself is a 9-inch vanilla sponge, filled with vanilla buttercream, and covered with sugarpaste.  All the little hand-made sugar details on top of the cake are completely edible.
