Roses wedding cake
I made this cake for Sinéad and Damien’s wedding in Galway. They wanted a fairly simple design on their cake – just dark blue ribbon to match the bridesmaid’s dress, and flowers to match Sinéad’s bouquet. Sinéad showed me pictures of the bouquet she had chosen, so I handmade ivory and white roses and tiny blue flowers for the top of the cake.
As we were guests at the wedding, I actually got to taste some of the cake… and it was lovely, if I say so myself!
The cake was made up of 3 tiers – 8″, 10″ and 12″. The bottom two tiers were vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream, and the top tier was chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream. The whole cake was covered in white sugarpaste. Below is a picture showing the flower detail on top of the cake.
